PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority has sealed the business premises of a private motor showroom for alleged tax default.

According to a statement issued here on Saturday, the authority’s enforcement team headed by deputy collector Sharifullah and comprising of enforcement officer, assistant collector, inspectors and other supporting staff conducted a raid on the Kohat Road and sealed the motor company office for not paying sales tax on services to the government.

The statement said that the owner of the business was given full opportunity to clear all the dues in terms of sales tax on services, but despite many legal notices served to him, he did not comply which ultimately led to sealing of his business under the KPRA enforcement rules.

It said that legal notices had also been issued to other such business holders which are liable to pay sales tax on services, and if they fail to comply, same action would be initiated against them.

In the statement, the director general of the authority requested all the stakeholders to voluntarily comply with the laws to avoid enforcement action and play their role for development and self-reliance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

He said that action would be continued against the defaulters and tax evaders in terms of sales tax on services in the coming days.
