ISLAMABAD: Talks between a delegation of protesting residents from various tribal agencies and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday failed to make a headway.

They have been staging protest in Islamabad for the last three days, demanding that provincial assembly elections be held in the tribal areas and other parts of the province simultaneously on July 25.

Earlier, the protesters tried to march towards Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) but they were stopped at Nadra office, sources told Dawn. According to the police, a former MPA from South Punjab also joined the protesters.

At Nadra office, senior officers from police and capital administration held negotiating with the protesters. Later a nine-member delegation met senior ECP officials and presented their demands.

When the meeting remained unsuccessful the delegation returned to the National Press Club and restarted their protest.
