SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders have categorically stated that they are against awarding three tickets to a single candidate because it will harm the party’s position in Swabi district in the upcoming elections.
They made the remarks while speaking at a meeting in Topi here on Wednesday.
It is to mention here that Asad Qaisar, former speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, has announced to contest election from PK-44, Swabi-II and NA-18, Swabi-I, but the PTI leaders said the former lawmaker had also devised a well-calculated plan to contest election from PK-43, Swabi-I.
They said award of ticket for the PK-43 constituency had not yet been announced because Mr Qaisar knew about expected revolt by party leaders and workers.
The speakers criticised the PTI’s central parliamentary board and demanded of PTI chairman Imran Khan to protect the party from disarray just over a month before the July 25 elections.
On the occasion, Rangaiz Khan, who had also applied for PK-43 and NA-18 ticket, said if three tickets were given to Mr Qaisar how they would demand votes from the people. In such a scenario, he said many eyebrows would be raised against the party’s central leadership.
Sohail Khan Yousafzai, Topi tehsil nazim, said that bat was a symbol of change and they would emerge victorious once again in KP.
Meanwhile, Mr Qaisar and parliamentary board members met Imran Khan at his Islamabad residence on Wednesday, but failed to decide the fate of PK-43 ticket, sources in PTI told this correspondent.
