KARACHI, May 30: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday described the killing of Jamaat-i-Islami leader Aslam Mujahid as a ‘conspiracy’ to destroy peace of the city. Addressing a news conference at the Karachi Press Club, parliamentary leader of the MQM in the National Assembly, Dr Farooq Sattar said that the murder was aimed at derailment of democratic system and undermining economic growth of the province.

Condemning the murder on behalf of his party, he offered condolence to the bereaved family and JI workers. He demanded that the government should take notice of this conspiracy. He appealed to the leaders of the JI and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to understand this conspiracy and cooperate with the present government and Muttahida to foil the anti-Pakistan and anti-Sindh elements’ plans.

Farooq Sattar said that ‘secret hand’ was again active to sabotage the peace and democratic system and claimed that the aim of this act was to create law and order situation before the local government polls.

He also talked to JI leader Dr Mairajul Huda, offered condolence, and asked him that Muttahida leaders wanted to attend the funeral of late Aslam Mujahid.

He said that the MQM Coordination Committee held an emergent meeting and reviewed the situation and decided to condemn this act. He claimed that Muttahida believed in peaceful political activities and the party was working to create peaceful political culture in the city.

ALTAF HUSSAIN: The Muttahida Quami Movement Chief, Altaf Hussain, has condemned the killing of Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi Naib Ameer and the vice-chairman of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Aslam Mujahid and termed it a conspiracy to ruin the peace of the city.

In a statement issued from London, the MQM chief expressed condolence with the bereaved family and said that he prayed to Allah to rest the soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this great loss.

PPP: PPP Sindh General Secretary Nafees Siddiqui condemning the murder of Aslam Mujahid has demanded an immediate arrest of the killers as any delay could worsen the situation in the city.

The PPP leader said that the law and order situation in the province had completely broke down as killers and murderers had been set free, while innocent people like PPP leader Mir Mohammed Khan Lund were being arrested on fabricated charges.

KATI: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has also condemned the murder of its vice-chairman Aslam Mujahid and demanded for the immediate arrest of the culprits.

KATI chief Abdul Haseeb and Karachi Council of Industrial Association chief Akber Farooqui prayed that the soul of the slain JI leader may rest in peace.
