THE historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump is a positive step. The two leaders signed a document which hopefully will pave the way for a peace treaty between Seoul and Pyongyang. Their faces depicted the success of a meeting whose failure was widely speculated.

Kudos to Trump, but the US President’s harsh attitude towards the G7 members and his antagonistic approach towards Iran are likely to undo his achievements. Therefore, he must recalibrate his policies in order to achieve a win-win situation on all fronts.

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sends a message out to the world that war is no solution to any problem, dialogue is the way forward.

Egos should be kept aside in matters of national interests. States and human beings should treat each other with dignity and respect.

Mr Trump and Mr Kim deserve a standing ovation for setting an example to the rest of the world to live and let live in peace.
