ILLEGAL construction activity has continued in lane number 139 and 140 of PECHS’s Block 2. Beginning from Feb 16 this year, the residents of PECHS-2 have repeatedly complained to the Director-General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and to the PECHS authorities but no action has been taken about unauthorised construction on plot numbers 139-P, 140-N and 140-N1.

On being approached by the Chairman of the Water Commission, the Sindh High Court directed DG SBCA to take appropriate action against illegal and unauthorized construction, but DG SCBA, vide Order No. SBCA/DD/JMT-II/2018/30/18 and SBCA/DD/JMT I/2018/31/18 both dated April 23, 2018, merely placed all the three plots under the umbrella of “sealed projects”.

On May 10, an SBCA squad completely demolished the project on plot number 59-G, Block-2, PECHS for violating the approved building plan, but no action has been taken by the SBCA with regard to plot numbers139-P, 140-N and - N1.

Case No. 13415/2018 is with the Supreme Court of Pakistan and I request the Chief Justice for an early disposal of the case. The Secretary to the Local Government Sindh, Karachi, is also requested to look into the matter.
