RAWALPINDI: The man who killed a traffic warden and an on-looker on Tuesday was remanded in police custody for seven days by the Anti-Terrorism Court on Wednesday.

The accused and his accomplice were booked under murder and terrorism charges by the Waris Khan police.

However, the accused friend nominated in the murder case was yet to be arrested by the police as he escaped.

The accused, Raja Daud, a resident of Kirpa village, and his accomplice, a resident of Multan were stopped by the traffic warden Shahid Serwar for violating traffic rules near Committee Chowk.

Saqib Rizwan, inspector traffic incharge Muree Road said in the FIR registered with the Waris Khan police that he along with his traffic staff was on duty when the traffic warden stopped the car.

He said soon after getting out of their car, the two individuals started quarrelling with the traffic warden. Raja Daud pulled out his gun and shot at traffic warden Shahid Serwar and then Nisar Ahmed who was watching the incident from a nearby building.

Both were injured critically and were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where they died.

The funeral prayer of traffic warden Shahid Serwar was offered here at the police lines headquarters on Wednesday.
