QUETTA: Balochistan’s caretaker Chief Minister Allauddin Marri has urged people to come forward and help poor people and orphans living in SOS Children’s Village, Quetta.

During a visit to the SOS village on Sunday, he said: “I will not hesitate to become a beggar to collect donation for orphan children of the SOS village.” Helping poor people and orphans is the most sacred act in Islam, he added.

He took a round of the SOS village along with the federal Minister for Railways and chairperson of the SOS village, Khurshid Bharucha.

He appreciated efforts of Ms Bharucha and secretary general of the SOS Village retired Brigadier Abdul Razzaq Baloch for the welfare of orphan children.

“I will spend my Eid day with orphan children of the SOS village,” he said.

Mr Marri said during his tenure as caretaker chief minister of the province he would try to provide maximum support to SOS village and motivate people to give donations to it.

The caretaker chief minister said the country had a number of people who work for the welfare of poor people and orphan children. One of the prominent names among them is Abdul Sattar Edhi who had dedicated his life for helping others, he added.

SOS Children’s Village Quetta was established in 2005.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Bharucha said the SOS village started its operation with the responsibility of two children and now 125 children were under its care. “The welfare organisation receives orphan children from across the province. They are provided quality education and all other facilities.”
