KARACHI, May 29: The Pakistan Muslim League-N has stated that Yaume Takbeer, which falls on May 28 when first nuclear test was carried out, should be commemorated as Defence Day of Pakistan. Demanding restoration of all titles of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan through one of the resolutions adopted at the 7th annual public meeting on Yaume Takbeer, the leaders paid tributes to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for refusing to accept US pressure against nuclear test.

They reiterated their determination that duly elected government after coming to power would take to task all those responsible for rolling back the nuclear programme.

Accusing the government of raising non-issues to divert the attention of people from the real issues, the leaders said that elections without participation of Nawaz Sharif would not be acceptable to the masses. They also announced that the PML-N after coming into power would set up Kargil Commission and make all those accountable who were involved in Rs900 million crash of stock exchange. They demanded that passport should be issued to Nawaz Sharif and he must be allowed to return.

“No secret solution of Kashmir issue would be acceptable to people, and the Council of Common Interests should be constituted and NFC award should be announced,” they said.

Other resolutions adopted at the meeting called for restoration of 1973 Constitution and fresh elections under independent election commission, release of PML leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and all other political prisoners.

Condemning the desecration of Holy Quran by US soldiers in Guantanamo Bay and tragedy of Bari Imam, they demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to the culprits.
