CHARSADDA: Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Qaumi Watan Party leader Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and several candidates of different political parties submitted their nomination papers to the offices of respective returning officers here on Friday.

Charsadda district has two national and five provincial assembly seats for which tough elections are expected.

Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Fazal Mohammad Khan of the PTI, Haji Hidayatullah Khan of the Qaumi Watan Party and Maulana Gohar Shah of the JUI-F filed nomination papers for the NA-24, Charsadda-II, seat.

Qaumi Watan Party’s Aftab Sherpao, JUI-F’s Haji Zafar Ali Khan and PTI’s Jehan Zeb Khan Dhaki submitted nominations for NA-23, Charsadda-I, while PTI’s Khalid Khan Mohmand, Mufti Pir Gohar Ali Shah of JUI-F, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao of QWP, and Ahmed Shah of Milli Awami Party filed papers for PK-56 seat.

Shakeel Bashir Umarzai of the Awami National Party, Aziz Khan Umarzai of the PTI, and Arshad Umarzai of the Qaumi Watan Party filed nominations to contest the July 25 elections in PK-57 and Aimal Wali Khan of the ANP, Sultan Mohammad Khan of the PTI in PK-58.

PTI’s Fazal Shakoor Khan, ANP’s Qasim Ali Khan Muhammadzai and JUI-F’s Maulana Mohammad Gohar Shah submitted nomination papers to their respective returning officers.

The nomination papers for two national and five provincial assembly seats will continue until June 11.
