MULTAN: A mob of angry residents of a village in Mian Channu, Khanewal district, got hold of two suspected robbers and beat one of them to death, police said.

The incident took place on June 3. According to official reports, four alleged robbers had tried to snatch away cash at gunpoint from a passer-by named Mazhar Hussain in 68-69/15-L village. Hussain had resisted the robbery attempt and was shot and injured. He raised a hue and cry, and a large crowd of furious residents from the village gathered and managed to catch two of the suspects — Liaqat Ali and Fayaz Ahmed.

An enraged mob beat up Ali and Ahmed with clubs and wooden rods. Ali died on the spot but a badly wounded Ahmed was handed over to the police.
