MANSEHRA: A mob on Thursday stormed the Oghi police station here and pelted it with stones to demand the immediate arrest of the accused in a murder case.

The protesters claimed that Mohammad Adil was killed by rivals when he was harvesting wheat in native village of Abbas Banda in the wee hours of the day.

The villagers and relatives of the deceased blocked the Oghi-Mansehra Road from 8am to 2pm demanding the arrest of the killers.

Shouting slogans, they also demanded the immediate suspension of the Oghi SHO and the doctor for autopsying the body in the absence of the family.

The traders also closed shops to support the mob.

Oghi DPO Mohammad Bashir and AC Mohammad Shabbir tried to speak to protesters, but to no avail.

The mob later stormed the police station and pelted it with stones injuring a police constable.

The police fired bullets in the air and tear-gassed protesters injuring boy Mohammad Qasim, who was shifted to a nearby hospital.

The protesters dispersed after local MPA Mohammad Ibrar Tanoli and assistant police officer Arif Javed promised the arrest of suspects Mohammad Sawab and Mohammad Shafique in 24 hours.

Mohammad Niaz later lodged an FIR with the police claiming his son was trapped by the killers.
