LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved the release of Rs37 billion for seven schemes on Tuesday in its 69th meeting of the fiscal year.

The meeting approved Rs13.342 billion for revamping of 24 district headquarters hospitals, Rs2.390 billion for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancers (Revised), Rs9.882 billion for Integrated Reproductive Maternal Newborn & Child Health Nutrition Programme (July, 2016 to June, 2019), Rs35.6 million for the development of master plan for the Bahawalpur City (PC-II), Rs8.771 billion for dualization of Khanewal-Lodhran Road, Rs600 million for the capacity building of P&D Department for improved policy planning and monitoring development process (Phase-II, Revised) and Rs2.199 billion for the construction of Government College Women University in Sialkot (Revised).

A spokesman for the P&D department said there was no issue in approving funds for the schemes on which the work was underway.
