KHAIRPUR: A local holiday for Wednesday was declared in Khairpur district on account of the 197th urs of great Sufi saint Sachal Sarmast.
An announcement to this effect was made by the Khairpur deputy commissioner on Tuesday.
The urs celebrations have already begun with the arrival of thousands of devotees in Daraza Sharif. Recitals of mystic verses of Sachal Sarmast in different sessions were held on Monday evening at his shrine, where stringent security measures have been taken to ensure peaceful holding of the urs celebrations.
