NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Siraj Mohammad Khan has criticised the provincial government of his party for ignoring artists in its welfare schemes.

He criticised the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and termed it the most corrupt government in the history of the province. He said that provincial government had done nothing for the welfare of people.

Addressing an award distribution function organised by Parwana Adabi Saqafati Tolena in Nowshera Kalan, he said that artists were facing problems. He criticised Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and said that he never bothered to resolve the problems being faced by the poets, singers and artists in his home district Nowshera.

Mr Khan, who is also chairman of the standing committee on commerce and industries, said that Nowshera had produced noted poets, artists and singers as its land was very fertile.

He said that chief minister did not recognise the services of artists and writers despite the fact that they played key role in creating awareness among the people. He said that he knew that most of the artists were facing financial problems.

Meanwhile, anti-terrorist department Mardan arrested here on Wednesday a person for getting extortion from people in the name of a terrorist organisation.

Official sources said that the arrested person was identified as Mohammad Salman. They said that he was collecting money from people by using the name of a terrorist organization.

They said that he used to call people from different telephone SIMs.

The sources said that he was arrested on GT Road near Taru Jabba when he was trying to blackmail someone.
