LAHORE: Favourite dark-bay colt Four Char Hai put up an outstanding performance and powered clear of the rivals in the home stretch to win the feature event during the Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The Rashid Latif-trained colt owned by Rai Umar Aziz Khan, Four Char Hai foiled a strong challenge from bay colt Socrates in the last 100 metres to maintain a length lead of him at the finishing point.

Bay colt Piyara Saeen ran third another six lengths back with bay colt Mitwa edging the frame among six starters left in the field after the last-minute withdrawal of Sultan-e-Moazzam from the race.

A race earlier the even-money unknown bay colt Real Comm­ando put up a courageous performance to win the supporting event under a powerful ride from Pervez Bhatti.

The winner beat bay filly Minding by a length after a ding-dong duel between the two. Bay filly Poetry finished third a length back with roan filly Aie Swair fourth.

Shortly before the start of the race, a delegation of the donors headed by Tauqeer Dar and consisting of Naeem Qureshi, Shafiq Sadiq and Mohammad Irfan had a meeting with the Lahore Race Club (LRC) chairman retired Lt Col Masud Pervez and put before some suggestions for better working relationship and making the sports more competitive.

The LRC chairman gave a patient hearing and promised to issue a notification to implement the decision reached in a mutual understanding of the issued discussed.
