PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to visit Peshawar for a four-day stay where he will meet workers and office-bearers belonging to different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to devise a strategy for launching election campaign in the province.

In this connection, a meeting of the party’s senior leaders and office-bearers was held at the residence of provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan here on Thursday.

It finalised arrangements for the party chairman’s visit to the provincial metropolis during Ramazan.

However, the arrival date is yet to be finalised.

According to a statement, during his four-day visit to the province Mr Bilawal will meet different delegations and attend iftar dinners.

Former provincial presidents, members of central executive, MPAs and presidents of district and Peshawar city also attended the meeting, which discussed the chairman’s visit, election preparation, etc.

Other issues, including Fata-KP merger and controversial statement of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, also came under discussion.

It was stated that the PPP would field its candidates in all the national and provincial constituencies.

They directed the office-bearers and workers to participate in the election campaign and ruled out compromise on the party discipline.

Humayun Khan demanded registration of a high treason case against Nawaz Sharif, saying nothing was dearer than the security of Pakistan.

He claimed that the repeated visits by PPP leadership to Peshawar and other parts of the province had made their political rivals uneasy.

He said that after coming into power the PPP would hold accountability and recover the looted national wealth from all corrupt politicians.

He said that the Bus Rapid Transit project had turned the provincial capital into ruins.

He said that the provincial government had failed to deliver, as it had no policy for welfare of the people.
