10 killed as truck falls onto van in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: Ten people were killed and six suffered injuries when a truck loaded with wheat bags fell onto a passenger van here on Thursday.

Witnesses claimed that the incident occurred as the van tried to overtake the moving truck on a turn near the vegetable market.

The van was bound for Mansehra from Rawalpindi.

The personnel of the Rescue 1122 and police cut the injured and bodies out of the van’s wreckage with the help of the local residents.

Among the deceased were Shaukat, Sameen Bibi, Danish Munir Khan, Jamshed, Mohammad Nazeer, Bedar Bakht and unidentified persons.

Three injured people were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital and Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex each.

The condition of three was stated to be critical for having head injuries.

A woman and a child remained unhurt in the incident.
