KARAK: Khattak Ittehad, a local rights organisation, has criticised the authorities over unscheduled power loadshedding and low gas pressure in the district.

The organisation extended support to the proposed protest demonstration of Karak Jirga in a meeting, held here on Tuesday with its president Maulana Mirzaqee in the chair.

The meeting condemned more than 20 hours power loadshedding in the district and also criticised the authorities over low gas pressure. The participants of the meeting decided to extend support to the protest of jirga schedule for May 10 after expiry of the deadline of May 7.

They asked the workers of the organisation to take to streets to protest the unscheduled loadshedding and low gas pressure. They said that the prolonged power loadshedding caused acute shortage of drinking water in the district.

The participants of the meeting said that unscheduled loadshedding and low gas pressure were no more acceptable to the residents of the district.

TELEPHONE LINE: The telephone and internet subscribers of various areas in Karak tehsil have been suffering for the last two weeks as the main line to Mithakhel telephone exchange has been cut off by unidentified persons.

The affected people told journalists here on Tuesday that more than 300 subscribers of internet and telephone of Mithakhel exchange had been deprived of the facility for the last two weeks as the main line was cut off by some miscreants.

They said that they had lodged complaints with the PTCL sub-divisional officer to repair the line, but the officials concerned did not bother to take notice of their complaints.

The subscribers demanded of the quarters concerned to make sure repair of the telephone line at the earliest. They also demanded action against the sub-divisional officer of telephone for not taking into consideration the complaints of the subscribers.
