ISLAMABAD: A motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a US embassy vehicle at Secretariat Chowk here on Sunday.

Sources in police said that Chad Rex Ausburn, second secretary in the US embassy, was “recklessly” driving the vehicle when it hit a motorcycle causing head injury to its rider Nazakat Aslam.

He was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital. The sources said that the injury was not of critical nature and his condition was stable.

The police started the process of shifting the US diplomat and his vehicle to the Secretariat police station for investigation.

Earlier this month, the vehicle of Defence and Air Attaché at the US embassy Col Joseph Emanuel Hall had hit a motorcycle after jumping over a traffic signal in Islamabad, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old man and injuries to his companion. Col Joseph is facing a trial in the Islamabad High Court. His name has been placed on the watch-list and he cannot leave Pakistan.
