LAHORE: Twelve matches were decided in the women and girls U-19 categories while four players earned byes as the inaugural Chief Minister Punjab National Women Squash Championship started here at the Punjab Squash Complex on Friday.

The winners entered the quarter-finals.

An upset in U-19 girls category was recorded when Sulaiya Chaudhry defeated Tayyaba Abbas 11-8, 5-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6 in a match lasting 29 minutes.

In the women’s category, seven matches were decided while in girls U-19 category five.

Women’s: Bushra Khalid bt Shanza 11-3, 11-3, 11-3; Rushna Mehboob bt Rozina Mohsin 11-5, 11-1, 11-2; Shafaq Chaudhry bt Shumaila 7-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-6; Tehrima Islam bt Mahwish 11-8, 11-1, 11-5; Saima Shaukat bt Meshall Khalid 11-0, 11-1, 11-2; Kalsoom Bibi bt Rukhsar 11-7, 11-3, 11-9; Riffat Khan bt Sehrish Manaher 11-1, 11-2, 11-2; Zoya Khalid got bye.

U-19 girls: Sibgha Arshad bt Sameen Riaz 11-1, 11-1, 11-0; Sulaiya Chaudhry bt Tayyaba Abbas 11-8, 5-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6; Noor-ul-Ain Ijaz bt Amna Khan 11-1, 11-0, 11-1; Syeda Shahbano bt Kafia Saleem 11-2, 11-3, 11-2; Fajar Hamid bt Muskan Shahbaz 11-6, 11-5, 11-4; Amna Fayyaz, Noor-ul-Huda got byes.
