KARACHI: A huge fire broke out in a cloth factory in Federal B Area on Thursday, a fire brigade official said.

F. B Industrial Area SHO Sajid Javed said that the fire erupted on the second floor of the Lucky Textile Mills, located near the Lucky One Mall, where garments were kept.

The officer said that there was no worker at the industrial unit at the time of the incident.

The blaze erupted at around 8pm, the fire brigade official said.

Initially, a few fire engines were sent to extinguish the fire, however, after realising the gravity of the situation, more fire engines were called in from across the metropolis, the official said.

Around 20 to 22 fire engines, including bowsers, were trying to control the fire, the fire department official added.

He said that efforts were being made to control the fire which appeared to be out of control. Till the filing of this report, firefighting efforts were under way.
