ISLAMABAD: Two persons lost their lives and three others were injured in a traffic accident on Islamabad Highway in the limits of the Koral police on Saturday night.

Station House Officer (SHO) Nawaz Bhatti told Dawn that the accident took place when a speeding car carrying four people skidded off the highway and landed onto the other side after hitting a tree on the meridian and injured a motorcyclist.

He said the car was coming from the airport side to Faizabad when it met with the accident apparently trying to save someone.

The dead included the driver and the front-seat passenger of the car. The injured, including the bike rider, were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) from where they were later discharged.

The SHO said motorists should not violate the speed limits on the expressway. The expressway has become almost signal-free and at night drivers mostly do not care about the speed limits.
