SAHIWAL: Police claimed to have arrested a 15-year-old boy on Sunday for allegedly molesting a minor schoolfellow at school on Friday.

City police station arrested on Sunday the 15-year-old suspect on the complaint of the victim’s father and booked him under Section 377 of the PPC.

A 15-year-old student of Class IX at Divisional and District Public School allegedly took a five-year-old Class I student to the rear, deserted side of the school building near the generator where he allegedly molested the minor on Friday.

The minor told his father about the incident who reported the matter to school Principal retired Brig Anwarul Hasan Kirmani.

The principal investigated the matter on Saturday and got a confession from the suspect, who was also expelled from the school the same day. The minor boy’s family reported the matter to police on Sunday.

Rana Kashif, investigation officer of City police station, on Sunday said the suspect was in their custody. The school principal told this correspondent that no internal inquiry had been initiated yet.

The school was run by the Sahiwal Education Trust that is headed by the commissioner. A senior member of the Trust told this correspondent that he received information of the incident on Sunday.

The minor boy’s father demanded that 48 hours had passed and the school must probe as to how such an incident could take place within their premises. He said a disciplinary committee should fix responsibility so parents of other students there could feel secure about their children.
