THIS concerns the recent news report, ‘CJP questions KP govt claims of change’ (April 20). I would like to clarify that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak had responded to all the questions asked by the CJP. Regarding health facilities, when the KP government took charge, there were only 2,500 doctors in the province; now, 7,000 doctors are present. Health insurance cards have been given to 2.4 million citizens, following the model of any developed nation for the first time in Pakistan. Regarding education, 57,000 teachers have been recruited in the province and ghost schools have been replaced by actual schools. For the first time, electricity has been provided in Kalam due to the efforts of the KP government.

Alif Ailaan, a non-profit organisation working for the education sector of Pakistan, ranked nine out of 10 districts from KP on the District Education Rankings with only one from Punjab. Also, KP has achieved the highest growth rate since 2007: its average growth rate of 5.1pc was better than the national average of 4.5pc for the period of 2013-14 to 2016-17.

All the above can be seen on ground in the province.
