LANDI KOTAL: Flash floods swept away three children in Bara and Landi Kotal tehsils of Khyber Agency as torrential rains lashed the region during the last 24 hours.

Khasadar officials said Abdur Rehman lost his balance and was swept away by flash flood near Alamgudar area of Bara while trying to save chicken.

Another boy of his family, Shah Zeb, jumped into the water to save him but he too was carried away. Later, body of Rehman was fished out while Shah Zeb was rescued in critical condition and immediately shifted to hospital. He later succumbed to injuries.

In a similar incident, Haji Akbar, a grade 10 student, was washed away by flood water near Cheengi Khel area of Landi Kotal on Tuesday.

The rain also halted vehicular traffic in Landi Kotal and Torkham, hitting transportation of goods to Afghanistan.
