LAHORE: A nine-member Pakistan team, with four standbys, has been announced to take part in the Asian hockey qualifiers for the Youth Olympics being held in Bangkok from April 25 to 29.
Waqas Ahmed has been appointed as captain.
The top two teams of the qualifying round will qualify from Asia for the Youth Olympics being held in Buenos Aires from Oct 6 to 18.
It is five-a-side event, with age restriction to U-18.
The team was announced after holding a 15-day training camp in Karachi under the supervision of former Pakistan captain Mohammad Usman.
The team will leave for Bangkok on April 20.
The team comprises the following players:
Awais Arshad (goalkeeper), Waqas Ahmed (captain), Ali Raza, Mohibullah (vice-captain), Murtaza Yaqoob, Junaid Rasool, Mohsin Khan, Zulqarnain and Hammad Anjum.
Standbys: Mohammad Abdullah, Abdur Rehman, Awais Amin and Abrar Ahmed.
