GWADAR: Iranian border guards shot dead two Pakistanis and detained five others when they illegally crossed into their country on Monday, officials said.

The incident took place near border post No 250 close to Gwadar, they added.

Gwadar Assistant Commissioner Jameel Ahmed told Dawn that Iranian officials handed over the two bodies as well as the five arrested men to the Levies authorities at the border.

The arrested men were later handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency’s officials.

The deceased were identified as Shahzeb Khan and Sadiq Khan, both residents of Bannu. The bodies were sent to their native town.

According to TV reports, three of the arrested men belong to Bannu, one to Azad Kashmir and the fifth to Jhang. Their names could not be ascertained immediately.
