MINGORA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Saturday his party rejected anti-Islamic liberalism.

Addressing a public gathering organised by his party in Matta, the Maulana said if people pursued Islamic traditions the so-called liberal people called them extremists.

The JUI-F chief said some elements wanted to promote obscenity and ultra-modernism, but he and his party would never allow them. “Some politicians are trying to spread and promote the so-called enlightenment and liberalism and want to take the country on anti-Islamic route by legalising the culture of obscenity,” he said, adding that the JUI-F would never accept the western political system in Pakistan.

He said corrupt politicians ruined the country and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was damaging the culture of Pashtuns.

He said the “JUI-F never supported any unconstitutional and unlawful movement in the country and will never support any such movement in future”.

The Maulana said the promoters of liberalism termed the JUI-F leaders and workers narrow-minded and unaware of modernism. “I must make it clear to all the liberal forces that we will never entertain anti-Islamic ideology and will impose real Islam in Pakistan which was propagated by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” he said.

He said it was an international agenda to weaponise the students of madressahs and made them fight with the state to spread hate against religion and religious institutions. “But JUI-F policies foiled all such conspiracies and the international agendas in Pakistan,” he said, adding that his party would always make them fail in future also.

Referring to the PTI, he said: “Pashtuns must reject the immodest, anti-Islamic and anti-cultural policies of the PTI.”

Maulana Fazl said the ulema were the real patriotic citizens and people must follow them to make Pakistan a strong and stable country.

“It was because of the JUI-F’s support that the army won the war against militants in the country and restored peace,” he claimed.

JUI-F leaders Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Maulana Abdul Jaleel, , Qari Mehmood and Dr Amjad also addressed the gathering.
