MUZAFFARABAD: A man and a woman were injured in Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Saturday as Indian troops continued ceasefire violations targeting civilian population from across the Line of Control (LoC).

Kotli Deputy Com­missioner Abdul Hameed Kiani said that Indian troops started the shelling at about 10am in Khuiratta sector on the fourth consecutive day, using both small and heavy weapons.

As a result, 65-year-old Muhammad Iqbal, a resident of Jogal Pal, and 55-year-old Nasreen Fatima, a resident of Mohra Seri, were injured, he said, adding that they had been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital Kotli.

Khuiratta sector is being indiscriminately targeted by Indian troops since Wednesday, causing physical and material losses.

Five men and three women were injured on Wednesday and another three women and a man were injured on Thursday, while a 21-year-old youth was injured on Friday.

According to the State Disaster Management Aut­hority, 15 civilians have been killed and another 104 injured in different vil­lages of AJK along the LoC this year by the Indian firing.
