At least ten more children lost their lives in Sindh's Tharparkar district over the past 24 hours due to malnutrition and the outbreak of viral infections and in the region, sources in Mithi Civil Hospital said.
The children who lost their lives were hospitalised in Civil Hospital Mithi. They include Nashad, 1 year old; Khalida, 2; Intizar Ali, three months old; Marvi four months old; Abida five months old; Marvi, 8; Khatoon, 6 months old, Aisha, 8 months old; Dhana, 3 months old; and Shanti, 7 months old.
According to credible sources in the health department, with the death of 10 more infants, deaths of children have risen to 190 in this year alone.
Speaking to local journalists, the parents of the ailing children and those whose children had lost their lives deplored the unavailability of drugs and other medical facilities in nearby health units.
They complained that they had to travel hundreds of miles, in scorching heat, to bring their sick children to Mithi, due to which the condition of the children further deteriorated.
Health and nutrition experts have urged the government to take notice of the unabated deaths of the infants in Thar.
Despite repeated attempts, no local health officials could be contacted for their statement on the situation.

Kindly note.The committee formed in the time of Qaim Ali Shah had recommended that doctors of health department sind should be given at least 4 lacs monthly salary but their recommendations had been ignored .Around 1 lac monthly salary how a doctor can survive in Tharparkar?No drinkable water,no proper place to put up at,frequent power failures,where doctor's child would study?At least give the doctor a good hefty package to make him stay there.

Those poor parents should be asked to take their malnourished children to the new Thar Airport, where they will be fed with concrete and steel. Alas Sindh governments priorities can only be understood by them.
Still remember a haunting line said by Qaim Ali Shah; "After all, whats the big deal if some of them die".

The honourable CJP sahib should take notice of the dying children in Sindh (including the deaths in ærevious years) and remove/dismiss the whole corrupt Sindh government for committing criminal negligence over the deaths of hundreds of poor children in Sindh till today. The Pakistani nation will be thankful to you sir.

Extremely painful and read this tragic and heartbreaking news of these poor and unfortunate people facing the manmade wrath of misery coupled with evils of disease and malnutrition time and again and that too without any relief whatsoever. One cannot fathom the desperation of the parents carrying their dying children and traveling hundreds of miles to seek medical help.Those at the helm of affairs in the provincial government as well as our federal health ministry are completely at ease with such happenings time and again. Where are our leaders from PPP,who at least for the sake of humanity should visit these areas where people are visibly suffering due to scarcity of basic necessities after being hit by natural calamity of long standing drought.These people are in dire need of staple food and clean water and in absence of these very basic requirements the most susceptible and fragile population of infants and children are caught in the web of malnutrition disease culminating in death.
