HARIPUR: A labourer was killed while two others were injured when a portion of an under-construction house fell, while a woman died in a road accident here on Wednesday.

Police and witnesses said a mason identified as Bilal Rasheed, a resident of Balakot, was busy in construction work at a house in Mohallah Chiraghia in Khalabat Township, when a portion of an under-constructed house caved in, burying him and two labourers alive.

The locals pulled out the men from under the rubble and shifted them to the district headquarters hospital, Haripur, where doctors pronounced Bilal dead as he suffered head injuries, while two labourers, Noman and Sarwar, were being treated for bone fractures.

In the other incident, a woman was killed when a speeding car hit her on Hazara Motorway near Ganjiyan Maira in Kotnajibullah.

Police said the woman was crossing the fence-less point of the motorway when she was hit by a car.

The victim was identified as Sakina Bibi of Sadiqabad village. The police arrested the car driver named Sheryar of Havelian and registered a case against him.

TRANSGENDER PERSON MOLESTED: A transgender individual was allegedly molested by three persons in the limits of Kotnajibullah police station on Wednesday.

Police quoted Basit of Lahore, who earned her living while performing in wedding parties, as saying that she was on way back home in Haripur along with her other party members after attending a marriage in Kotnajibullah, when three unknown persons intercepted their vehicle and dragged her down from the vehicle.

The accused took her to a nearby home and molested her. They also snatched her mobile phone and cash. The police registered a criminal case against unknown accused.
