QUETTA: Unidentified attackers shot dead a member of the Shia Hazara community and injured another in the Kandahari Bazaar area on Sunday, police officials said.

Five people were travelling in a rented vehicle from Marriablad to Hazara Town. When they reached Kandahari Bazaar Chowk, the unidentified attackers opened fire on the vehicle.

Superintendent of Police Abdullah said two men in the vehicle were injured in the attack, adding that one of them succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical aid.

The assailants fled the area after committing the crime.

Soon after receiving information about the incident personnel of police and Frontier Corps rushed to the area. They shifted the body and the injured to the civil hospital. The attack created panic in the area.

The deceased was identified as Nazar Hussain and the injured as Gul Hassan.

A police officer said it seemed to be a case of “sectarian targeted killing”.
