TAXILA: The District Zakat Committee will be distributing Rs14.7 million in Attock including for medical assistance, vocational training, small business and higher education.

Talking to newsmen on Monday, the chairman of the committee, Attaur Rehman said Rs931,671 will be spent on providing medical treatment to poor patients, Rs8.8 million on vocational training, Rs2.5 million on small businesses and Rs2.5 million will be given to poor students.

He said annual zakat funds help many people in getting technical education, healthcare, marriage grants and financial assistance for the visually impaired.

He said the notification of around 300 zakat committees have been issued which will work for three years.
