HARIPUR: A three-day cultural festival concluded amid tight security in Mankraey village here on Sunday.

The Mankraey Youth Welfare Organisation, a village-based local entity, had arranged the event titled “Rang-i-Baharan Festival”.

During the first two days, different stalls were set up by women to display local traditional food, beads work, stitch work, embroidery and showpieces. Cooking and Hina competition, tug-of-war and race were some of the competitions that women from the surrounding villages participated in on the occasion.

The girl students from local schools also took part in declamation contest.

DSP Shehzadi Noshad Gilani was guest of honour on this occasion. She distributed trophies and medals among the winners.

Speaking on the occasion DSP Gilani said that in the prevailing situation when every third person was facing severe depression, cultural event involving women was a remarkable step that needed to be replicated in other parts of the district.
