KARACHI: Following instructions from the Prime Minister House, eminent Olympian goalkeeper Mansoor Ahmed was admitted in the intensive care unit of the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases here on Tuesday.

“Mansoor first underwent a CT scan at a private hospital before being admitted to the ICU in NICVD, thanks to coordination by Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, representative of Governor of Sindh Mohammad Zubair,” a source told Dawn.

He said administrator of the NICVD, Dr Hameedullah Khan helped the former custodian in getting admitted and immediately carried out a number of tests on the ailing goalie. Some of his tests have been sent to Aga Khan Laboratory as well, he said.

The source added that the CT scan suggested excess fluid in his lungs.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Lahore: The PHF has announced that it is trying to help ailing national hero Mansoor in all possible ways.

“Former Pakistan captain and legendary goalkeeper Mansoor has been battling a deteriorating heart condition for quite some time. The PHF has paid for his outstanding dues, amounting to Rs300,000, at the hospital where he remained admitted recently. In addition, the federation has sent a cheque of Rs500,000 to Mansoor’s mother,” a PHF press release issued on Tuesday said.

“On federation’s request, the PM Office has already contacted Mansoor’s family to inquire about the requirements relating to his treatment. Director General PSB has also been requested to help the great player,” the press release concluded.
