PESHAWAR/CHARSADDA: The police and security forces recovered suicide jackets and improvised explosive devices in Peshawar and Charsadda areas on Wednesday.

In Peshawar, the city police claimed to have recovered two improvised explosive devices and a suicide jacket from the outskirts of the city.

SSP operations Javed Iqbal said that two IEDs and a suicide jacket were recovered from the limits of Inqilab police station. He said that police were conducting a search operation in the area.

In Charsadda, the security forces and police recovered a cache of explosives and ammunition buried in a graveyard in Shabqadar area on Wednesday.

Official sources said that the security forces and police carried out a joint operation and seized three suicide vests, one hand grenade, one improvised explosive device, 16 batteries and at least 704 rounds of different bores.

The explosives and ammunition were buried in the Akhun Zafar Baba Graveyard in the Khwajawas police station area of Shabqadar.

The sources said that the explosives were buried in the graveyard for use in terrorist activities in the area.

However, no arrests were made in this connection.
