LAHORE: The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Wapda, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) made the semi-finals as four more matches were decided in the 40th National Kabaddi Championship here on Friday.

HEC upset a strong team of Punjab with a remarkable performance, winning the last group match 56-37 to confirm a place in the semi-finals. HEC had a slim 24-22 lead at the end of the first half but their raiders moved well in the second half to secure the victory.

Wapda thrashed Police 68-28, having raced into a 38-12 lead at the end of the first half. Police, who beat Iran 54-52 in their previous match, looked fatigue as they were easily undone by their opponents.

SNGPL won a low-scoring match against Pakistan Railways 34-16 while Iran finally recorded a victory after they edged past Pakistan Ordnance Factory Wah 39-32.

In Saturday’s semis, Wapda will take on HEC while SNGPL lock horns with PAF.
