QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Saturday deferred approval of recommendations of a standing committee regarding creation of a third cadre for assistant executive officers and their appointment in the same grade as the matter was pending a decision in the Supreme Court.

William Barkat, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Services and General Administration, Inter-provincial Coordination, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Precaution and Human rights, presented the report of the standing committee in the house regarding the assistant executive officers who had been affected due to the verdict of the apex court.

The apex court had ruled that all government officers belonging to other departments and inducted as assistant executive officers should be sent back to their departments concerned in the same grade in which they were working.

These officers were inducted into finance and planning and development departments through the Public Service Commission.

A large number of offices, who had been working as assistant executive officers, had been affected in Balochistan in view of the apex court decision.

Former chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and former ministers Aslam Bizenjo and Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal informed the house that the matter was pending in the Supreme Court and no decision could be taken in the house.

They submitted that the house should not take any decision about the recommendation of the standing committee regarding creation of third cadre till the apex court decided the case.

Speaker Raheela Durrani put off the issue till next session of the assembly.
