MARDAN: Body of a young man was found along a roadside near Saro Shah area of Takhtbhai here on Saturday, police said.

Usman Tapu, ASP Takhtbai tehsil, told Dawn on Saturday that personnel of Saro Shah police station found body of a 31-year-old man on a roadside when they were on a routine patrol in the area.

He said the body was identified as that of Ihsanullah, a resident of Bajaur Agency.

He said the victim had received three bullet shots on his body - on head, belly and below. He rejected the notion that the victim was a rights activist.

The ASP said father of the slain person approached them when he was informed about the incident by the police.

The ASP, quoting Jehanzeb, the victim’s father, said the deceased frequently visited Islamabad and Peshawar for official work. He told police the victim had left home three-four days ago in search of work in Islamabad or Peshawar. However, he also informed police that his son also used to work in a private company.

The victim’s father, however, lodged FIR in the relevant police station but did not nominate anybody as he said neither his son nor his family had any enmity with anyone.

The police officer said they had handed over the body to his father after conducting postpartum. He said the police had begun further investigations into the blind murder.
