ISLAMABAD: Vice chairman of a union council was found murdered here on Friday, police and victim’s cousin said.

The victim has been missing for the last two days from Loi Bher, and his family members feared that he might have been abducted.

He was affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and was vice chairman of UC 8, his cousin told Dawn.

The victim was also a property dealer, he added. Senior politicians of the PTI also met the senior police officer of capital before on Friday noon and sought help for the early and safe recovery of the victim, but he was found murdered in the afternoon.

The body was recovered from a wooded area at Banigala when some passersby spotted it. The police shifted the body to hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The deceased had left his residence at Pakistan Town on Feb 21 at around 4pm in a car but did not return, the police quoted the cousin as saying.

The family searched him but remained unsuccessful and later registered a kidnapping case with Loi Bher police. The police also traced the victim’s vehicle parked in the area of Sadiqabad, Rawalpindi, they added.
