HYDERABAD: Relatives of the victims of a deadly accident, which claimed lives of 10 women and a man when a dumper ran into a pick-up near Hyderabad on Feb 12, have appealed to the government to take action against owner and driver of the killer dumper.

Shamroz Khan, Moham­mad Junaid, Ashfaq Ali who were closely related to the victims and the injured said at a press conference at the local press club on Saturday that police were not cooperating with them and they had to fight for getting the FIR registered at Husri police station on Feb 13.

They demanded that legal action be taken against the dumper owner and driver.

A meeting of all heirs and relatives of the victims would be held at the house of PPP leader Abdul Jabbar Khan on Sunday at 3pm to review the situation, they said.

They said that they were poor and needy and their women used to sell assorted items to earn bread for their families.

They were facing severe financial problems after their death, they said.

They thanked Sindh Min­is­ter for Local Govern­ment Jam Khan Shoro, PPP leaders Abdul Jabbar and Kashif Shoro for assuring them of support and requesting chief minister for approving compensation of Rs500,000 and Rs300,000 for the heirs of the deceased and the injured, respectively.

After the press conference, they held a protest outside the press club.
