KHAR: The people of Bajaur Agency on Wednesday complained about 20 per cent increase in prices of LPG and firewood during the last one week.

Talking to Dawn here, residents of different areas of the region claimed that price of LPG had increased from Rs130 per kg before the recent rain to Rs150 per kg, while that of firewood from Rs450 per 40kg to Rs500 to Rs550 per 40kg.

They said sudden increase in prices of LPG and firewood had caused financial problems for them.

They complained that the rates were increased after the recent rain and snowfall.

The increase in LPG and firewood rates has upset me as we are poor people and incapable of buying the commodities at such high rates,” Jamal Khan of Khar town complained.

Some people blamed the local dealers for increasing the LPG price on their own thus, violating the official price.

They slammed the local administration for failing to keep a check on LPG prices.

Meanwhile, people of far-flung areas said they had been facing a shortage of LPG for last four days following the rain. The shops dealing with LPG cylinders are empty for past four days,” Liaqat Khan of hilly Dabar area complained.
