KARACHI: After the fall of fancied Nishtar Club at the hands of low-profile Malir Trojans the other day, newly raised Omegas Club sent shockwaves by giving experienced Bounce Club lesson in the Kashmir Day basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Tuesday.

It was a treat to watch youthful Omegas making waves and in the end registering a splendid 42-34 victory to open their account in group A.

It is pertinent to mention that Omegas went down fighting 33-39 to Neighbourhood Club in the closely fought opening match after enjoying substantial lead at half time. The winners dominated the last three quarters following a sluggish start.

The trio of Riaz, Ans and Uzair were the pick of the match for the winners with the former contributing a tall score of 18. The other two scored nine points apiece including Uzair’s three excellent three-pointers.

Siblings Muzammil and Mubashir excelled for the losers scoring 12 and nine respectively.

One Unit Club, meanwhile, got a walkover after their opponents National Club failed to turn up.
