KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has waived the requirements of no-objection certificates (NOCs) and permissions from various civic agencies and government departments for those who want to construct smaller buildings.

The procedure has been made easy and now the approvals and construction permits would be issued within 30 days.

The smaller buildings for which the procedure has been changed include residential bungalows on 399 square yards having ground plus one floor, any other building on a plot up to 120 square yards with a height up to 33 feet and any non-obnoxious warehouse having a height up to 35 feet and / or having a plot up to 1,100 square yards.

Responding to Dawn queries on Sunday, SBCA director general Agha Maqsood Abbas said the requirement of submitting interdepartmental NOCs from Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Sindh Environmental Protection Agency and Excise and Taxation department etc for getting approvals and constriction permits for smaller buildings had been waived. He said that this had been done on the directives of the chief minister and with technical support from the World Bank. Mr Abbas added the step would benefit the middle-income group people.
