ISLAMABAD, May 10: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday announced 75 scholarships for master’s in engineering. According to a statement, the selected candidates will be sent to Austria, France, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The scholarships will be given to full-time regular teachers of public sector universities and degree-awarding institutions. Applications for the scholarships can be submitted to the HEC before May 23.

Eligibility criteria includes first division or 2.5 CGPA in BE or equivalent degree; one second division but no third division or grade D in academic career. Maximum age limit is 40 years.

Medium of instruction is English in Sweden and the Netherlands, French in France, and German in Austria and Germany. Language course will be offered to selected candidates on state expense.

Eligible candidates will have to clear local GRE general type test with the requisite score. Short listed candidates will be interviewed by a joint HEC and respective country selection team for award of scholarships.

Those who had already been awarded scholarships under various HEC’s programmes will not be entertained. Meanwhile, equivalence of foreign qualifications from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen(IBCC)/HEC needs to be provided with applications.

APP ADDS: The HEC will conduct a GRE test for overseas scholarships for master’s and PhD at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, on May 15.

The test will be conducted simultaneously at Federal Government College for Women G-10/4, Islamabad; Faculty of Arts, University of Karachi; Takbir Hall, Islamia College, University of Peshawar; Hailey College of Commerce, Quaid-i-Azam Campus (New Campus) University of the Punjab, Lahore; and Department of Pharmacy, University of Balochistan, Quetta.
