LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman broke ground for widening of the national highway’s section from Thokar Niaz Beg to Hudiara Drain during a ceremony at the National Highway Authority’s regional offices here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, NHA Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik said the existing four-lane road would be widened to eight lanes.

“The project also includes construction of pedestrian bridges, bus bays and U-turns to facilitate increasing traffic. It will facilitate traffic moving from Lahore to southern Punjab. The project will cost around Rs10 billion and will be completed in less than a year,” says a press release.
