LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women’s University (LCWU) held its 14th convocation campus on Friday.

Provincial Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Gilani, Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Nizamuddin and LCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi attended the ceremony.

Up to 3,964 candidates have graduated BS, BEd, BFA, BCom, BBA, BPA, BE, Pharm D, MA, MSc, MS/ MPhil and PhD programmes.

On Friday, candidates from the faculties of natural sciences, management/administrative sciences, engineering and technology and pharmacy were given degrees.

The candidates of humanities, social sciences, languages and culture and visual arts and design would be given degrees on Saturday while PhD scholars will join the event both days.

Mr Gilani said the nation could be developed by giving education to women.

He said the Punjab government had doubled education budget to promote education.

“Young generation is a precious asset and the hope for a bright future of the country. Pakistani women are talented and playing an important role in medical, engineering, education, health and other sectors of national development and the nation is proud of its daughters,” he said.

The convocation also conferred awards on alumni who have made significant contribution to the national development.
