BUNER: The district police claimed to have arrested an alleged terrorist after eight years of disappearance and seized explosives from him in Gokand valley here.

District police officer Mohammad Irshad Khan Yousafzai told a press conference in Daggar on Tuesday that the terrorist, Sher Nawab alias Maulvi Sahib, was arrested on his return to the district after eight years of disappearance.

He said that on the information provided by the arrested terrorist the police recovered 12kg high quality explosives and a 14kg improvised explosive device planted in a pressure cooker with prima cord, 83 dynamites and 300 safety fuses from a ravine in Budkhanay area.

The DPO was flanked by DSP Muzakir Shah Khan, SHO Daggar Gohar Afzal and other officials.

Meanwhile, the residents of remote hilly Jaboo village of Chaghorzai tehsil on Tuesday staged a demonstration at Daggar to protest against a four-year delay in completion of a water supply scheme for which provincial minister for religious affairs Haji Habibur Rehman had allocated Rs13.2 million.
