BoP chief given one-year extension
LAHORE: The incumbent president of Bank of Punjab has been appointed for one year or till selection of new man to head the bank.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the proposal of the finance department. The three-month extension given to Naeemuddin Khan expired on Dec 19. Since the selection/appointment process may take some time, the tenure of the incumbent president has been extended for smooth functioning of the bank.—Staff Reporter
PCJCCI employment exchange launched
LAHORE: The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) on Thursday announced the launching of an employment exchange for CPEC-related jobs, connecting Chinese employers with Pakistan’s job market, said a press release.
The exchange has been launched in collaboration with Rozee.pk and is fully operational in Chinese, Urdu and English languages. The collaboration takes advantage of the latest online and mobile technologies to unlock over 7m highly skilled Pakistani professionals across all sectors and industries.
Emirates buys 36 Airbus A380 superjumbos
PARIS: Emirates Airlines said on Thursday it has struck a $16 billion deal to buy 36 Airbus A380 superjumbos. The company said it had placed firm orders for 20 of the double-decker aircraft with options for a further 16. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2020.
Emirates is already the world’s biggest customer for the A380 with 101 in its fleet and 41 more firm orders previously placed.“This order will provide stability to the A380 production line,” the airline’s chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said.—AFP
